The Liveability Challenge 2024: Danish companies can create the next green revolution

Do you have innovations to make urban areas more climate-friendly and resource-efficient? Now you have the opportunity to apply for The Liveability Challenge 2024.

Eco-Business, in collaboration with Temasek Foundation, is gearing up for The Liveability Challenge 2024, offering Danish companies a chance to contribute to the global green agenda. Recognized as Asia's leading sustainability platform since its start in 2018, the challenge addresses urban challenges in tropical regions through innovation.

The challenge statement

The Liveability Challenge 2024 targets urban transformation with two key themes: Climate Change and Food & Nutrition.

In tackling Climate Change, the challenge seeks scalable solutions to reduce carbon emissions, including technology-based carbon capture, low-carbon innovations, and the creation of products for the global market that generate cost-effective renewable energy. Additionally, the challenge seeks nature-based solutions that strengthen and protect our ecosystems, societies and infrastructures from the effects of climate change.

Within the domain of Food & Nutrition, innovative technologies are sought to enhance food resilience and safety in agriculture, aquaculture, and alternative nutrition sources. The focus is on maximizing production while minimizing resources, reducing waste, and improving nutrient quality in foods.

Participants are urged to develop solutions with commercial viability and scalability in dense urban settings. Both technology and nature-based solutions are encouraged, with pilot projects suggested in Singapore (for technology-based solutions) or Southeast Asia (for nature-based solutions).

Grand finale and prizes

The former editions of The Liveability Challenge gathered over 600 solutions globally, allocating S$2.6 million in funding for innovative sustainability solutions. The 2024 edition will maintain this tradition, featuring two grand prizes of S$1 million each for the winners in the Climate Change and Food Security tracks. The grand finale is scheduled for April at Ecosperity 2024.
