Robotics

Denmark has quickly developed its industry within robotics, making it a global world leader today, that continues to expand. The industry counts more than 400 firms focusing solely on robotics, while around 700 workplaces actively use robot solutions. New solutions are developed in strong partnerships between private companies, research institutions and public organisations. There is even a formalised organisation cementing the national cluster. Collaborations are what drives growth and the outlook is strong. 80 per cent of the industry expects growth in turnover and almost half expect a larger than 20 per cent increase in 2022.

Denmark as a supplier of robotics, automation and drones generated DKK 21.1 billion in turnover in 2021, of which more than half was for exports. The solutions available from Danish firms are well suited for a wide range of applications worldwide. Traditionally, robotics were mainly useful in manufacturing, but today Danish robotics can be found in many sectors, for example, construction, healthcare, energy, logistics and transport.
 

Applications within logistics and transport include handling and packaging with options for increased flexibility due to programmable gripper tools. Within construction and manufacturing, applications include advanced welding as sensors can adapt to various conditions with extreme precision.[1] In healthcare, robots are present in cleaning and rehabilitation.[2]

Denmark’s position as a supplier in first ever figures for the industry’s role in the green economy show that 78 per cent provide solutions that contribute to customers’ green transition and/or circular economy.
