The Liveability Challenge is back on a search for innovative solutions to combat urban challenges of the 21st century! As the world’s population is expected to increase to 10 billion by 2050, current infrastructure and resources are straining to catch up. How can we live sustainably and within our planetary boundaries?
Asian cities are on the frontline of the impacts of climate change, according to the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report. If greenhouse gas emissions remain high, countries in the region will be impacted by physical climate risks, including reduced crop yields and disruptions to natural ecosystems.
Tackling the increasingly complex climate change impacts and risks will require the most groundbreaking innovations. From 14 January to 13 April 2022, The Liveability Challenge is crowdsourcing the world for revolutionary solutions to accelerate decarbonisation, meet increasing demand for food, and conserve the planet’s natural ecosystems.
Decarbonisation
The organizers are looking for innovations that can capture and utilise carbon to create scalable products, or revolutionise the hydrogen economy.
Food and Agritech
The organizers are looking for novel solutions that can address the global food demand or reduce food waste, while maintaining a low carbon footprint.
Nature-based solutions
The organizers are looking for innovative business models to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, or solutions to address gaps in the carbon credit market.
